Meet the Team

Tom was, until 2012, Chief Executive of Intermediate Capital Group PLC one of the leading global fund managers and providers of private debt. In 2011 he was appointed non-executive of Hg Capital, a leading private equity firm, and was for several years Chairman. He was previously director of HSBC Investment Bank, Gala Coral, the AA and a Non-Executive Director of a number of companies including IPC Media, Wightlink and Target Express; and until recently a Director of the Private Equity Foundation and the Centre for Social Justice, a member of the Commission for Social Mobility and Child Poverty and Non-Executive Chairman of the Academies and Free Schools Board at the Department for Education. He is also on the Board of A Plan and Chairman of the Attwood Education Foundation and Attwood Academies Trust, sponsor of Bexhill Academy and Ian Mikardo High School.

Professor Maggie Dallman, OBE, is Vice President (International), Associate Provost (Academic Partnerships) and Professor of Immunology. In her Vice President and Associate Provost roles, Maggie is the academic lead on, respectively, the College's International Relations and Societal Engagement Strategies.

Ian is an independent strategic consultant and creative writer for major organisations such as Philips, Shell and European Aluminium. He was a National Leader of Governance from 2014 to 2020 and three-term Chair of Woodhouse College (2006-2018). He sat on the National Council of the Sixth Form Colleges Association, representing London SFC governors, and was a member of a panel advising the UK government on communicating with the further education sector. He has been a transformation Chair for Sudbury Primary School Academy Trust from 2016 to mid-2017 and for Dollis Primary School from mid-2019 for two years, both roles involving significant change management. Ian is also a Member at two other trusts: Chrysalis Multi-Academy Trust, and Westfield Academy Trust.

Zey Suka-Bill is the Dean of Screen at London College of Communication, with responsibility for leading undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Film, Television, Animation, Games Design and Sound Arts. 

Zey is a qualified teacher with over 25 years' experience of teaching, leadership and management in both Further and Higher Education, and has taught and developed visual art modules across a variety of degree disciplines in several London based Higher Education institutions. She holds a Masters in Research (MREs) from the University of London and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Richard is Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences at Imperial College London. He chaired the A-level Content Advisory Board for the Russell Group, for Mathematics, reporting to the Department for Education; this advice shaped the content of the current A-level in Mathematics. He currently chairs the A-level Mathematics contact group for ACME reporting to the Royal Society. He also chairs the advisory board of the charity, Mathematics in Education and Industry, who run the Advanced Mathematics Support Programme. Richard’s main role will be to advise on curriculum and supercurricular development. He will advise the headteacher of ICLMS once pre-opening is reached.

Peter is Chair of Trustees of Frontier Learning Trust having been Chair of Governors at Woodhouse prior to academisation. He chaired the employability skills programme at Woodhouse College from 2008-2018 and joined the Governor Board in 2013. Peter has worked in the City since the mid-1980s and is currently a non-executive director and Chair of Audit & Risk at a small number of FCA-regulated firms. He also acts an independent consultant specialising in strategy, governance and compliance in the financial services sector.

Lucy is the Headteacher of the Archer Academy, an outstanding community school that opened in 2013. With over 20 years of experience in the education sector Lucy has a history of school improvement and strategic leadership. The Archer Academy is one of Woodhouse College’s partner schools, and Lucy joining the Board of Governors has strengthened this relationship further.

After studying law at Newnham College, Cambridge, Linda trained and qualified as a solicitor at Olswang. She moved from being a litigator to becoming their Head of Corporate Responsibility in 2009, establishing Olswang's award winning corporate responsibility programme and advising clients on all aspects of responsible business. Linda became Head of Corporate Responsibility at CMS in 2017. Linda is also Vice-chair of Haverstock School Career Network Board and has been a Director of the Institute of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability and a Trustee of the Social Mobility Business Partnership.

Lucy is a Chartered Accountant and a Director at FLB. Lucy previously worked in audit for nine years, including at a Big 4 accounting firm and specialised in a few key areas, one of these being membership associations where she reported directly to audit and risk committees regularly.

After graduating with a degree in Chemistry from St Catherine's College, Oxford, Adrian started his business career with Grant Thornton where he qualified as a chartered accountant. Adrian has served as a Finance Director and CFO to university spin-out companies, SMEs and subsidiaries of listed large groups in industries ranging from software licensing to futures & options clearing. Adrian holds an MBA from Imperial College London and has significant experience in running finance departments and advising Boards on financial matters. Adrian enjoys traveling and has lived and worked in South Africa and Hong Kong.

After obtaining a BA in African and Caribbean Studies from the University of Kent, Lola worked as a Junior Editor and eventually became one of the first Nigerians to edit English language text books. She has worked with various celebrated african writers as well as editing and managing the production of English language books for Nigerian primary and secondary schools. 

José is an experienced financial professional with more than 25 years of experience in finance, strategy and risk management in insurance and banking at an international level. He is currently the Risk Director of Allianz’s retail general insurance business in the UK. José is also a former regulator and has also held senior positions in a number of leading financial institutions in the UK, the US and Spain. He also brings direct experience in educational bodies as a former parent Governor of another leading secondary school in north London and as former Chairman of the Institute of Risk Management, a global education body with more than 6,000 members worldwide.

Ellie is a Chartered Global Management Accountant and Head of Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) at Imperial College London. As Head of FP&A, Ellie is responsible for managing Imperial’s planning and budgeting processes and providing analysis of the university’s financial performance. Prior to this, Ellie worked for six years as Senior Finance Business Partner at Imperial. In this capacity, she supported Imperial’s Outreach division for over four years and acted as a financial advisor in the development of the Imperial College London Maths School and the University’s Access and Participation Plan.

Helen is Vice Chair of Trustees of Frontier Learning Trust and an educational professional with an extensive career in Further Education at local and national levels. She retired from her post as Director of Professional Standards and Workforce Development, at the Education and Training Foundation, in October 2017 to undertake part-time advisory work. As part of her Director role, she was responsible for the implementation and success of workforce development programmes for maths to develop FE success in the implementation of the GCSE retake policy.

Chief Risk Officer at Lumyna, an asset manager platform. Zubair is responsible for the day-to-day risk and compliance monitoring of investment funds. Zubair previously worked at Bank of New York Mellon for 4 years as a Senior Risk Analyst, servicing other asset managers, pension funds and central banks, overseeing daily risk monitoring, investment restrictions and performance attribution. Prior to that, Zubair worked as a Risk Analyst at Aberdeen Asset Management with a specific focus on the Alternatives asset class. Zubair also worked as a Financial Engineer at Cardano Risk Management. Zubair graduated with a first class BSc in Financial Computing and subsequently a Masters in Modelling and Management of Risk, both from Brunel University in London.

Andrew is Director of Outreach at Imperial College London. He is responsible for advising on the strategic direction of Imperial’s outreach portfolio, working closely with academic Departments and other collaborators. He is a member of senior College Committees including the Access and Participation Strategy Group. Andrew leads operationally on developing the relationship between Imperial and the Maths School.

As the Alumni and External relations Manager, Aisha aims to enhance the experience of Woodhouse students by building relationships with organisations and alumni. With a high passion in equipping young people with the tools that they will need after they leave college, Aisha aims to ensure that they have career experiences through the coordination of Career Ready.

Pemi graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2019 and is currently a Trainee Solicitor at Hogan Lovells.

Sam is Deputy Head of Widening Participation at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), leading on evaluation, finance and strategic projects. With experience working in partnership with schools and colleges in London, Essex and Hampshire, Sam is passionate about using data to close gaps in education and access to university. Having completed a degree in zoology, Sam spends his spare time as a volunteer zookeeper.

Caroline is currently completing training as secondary maths teacher. She is looking forward to starting her new career after working for many years in the field of science communication, which included roles as a news reporter for the higher education sector, policy influencer in a mathematical learned society and editor of a magazine for teachers of physics. She has three children, one each in primary school, secondary school and university.

David has been involved in secondary education for nearly 40 years as an A level physics teacher and, since 1998, a member of secondary school SLTs. As deputy headteacher with responsibility for curriculum and staffing in North London schools, he has helped lead one out of special measures to good and another from good to outstanding and so has worked closely with school governors during that period and entertained many OFSTED inspections. He has also trained senior and middle leaders under NPQML and NPQSL and is currently an occasional independent appeals panel member for AQA whilst enjoying his teaching at Woodhouse since 2020.

Elise is Head of the Alternative Investments Programme at the education charity SEO London, which prepares talented young people from underserved and underrepresented backgrounds for career success. Prior to this, she spent many years as an investment industry professional. She is the parent of a current Woodhouse College student and has an older child at the University of Manchester. Elise earned an Economics degree, with honours, from Brandeis University in the USA.

Angela joined the Woodhouse Board of Governors in March 2019. She is a research scientist by training with a PhD from the University of Manchester. She has over 20 years of experience in medical research management with Director level responsibilities in the public sector including the NHS and at Imperial College London where she currently works.

Marco is Deputy Principal of Morley College London where he has responsibility for strategic and operational leadership of the Curriculum and Quality areas. He is an education professional with over 30 years’ experience in the sector as a teacher, trainer, consultant, Ofsted inspector, governor and senior manager, both in Italy and in the UK. Member of the Chartered Management Institute, he has a keen interest in educational leadership and is passionate about Quality in education.

Meryem works as an Economic Advisor in the Civil Service, she specialises in migration and labour market analysis with experience in other fields such as transport. She is also currently undertaking her Master’s at Queen Mary University London.

Jeremy Ruff is the founder and managing director of Real PM Ltd a project management consultancy specialising in large-scale property construction and re-development. A chartered surveyor by training, Jeremy has previously worked for global builders John Laing PLC and Mace Group. For the last 15 years at RPM , Jeremy has consulted with the companies behind the Kings Cross Regeneration Development scheme and Battersea Power Station . Other projects include new builds in commercial, residential and retail; civil infrastructure schemes; land acquisition; and health and medical research buildings. Real PM was recently acquired by Turner Construction Group in the USA to be its UK International Hub. 

Professor Amir Sam is Head of Imperial College School of Medicine. He is a consultant physician and endocrinologist at Hammersmith and Charing Cross hospitals, and Director of the Charing Cross Campus at Imperial College London. He graduated from University College London (UCL) in 2003. During his undergraduate training he received a scholarship to study endocrinology at Harvard Medical School. His postgraduate medical training was in Oxford and London. He completed his PhD in neuroendocrinology as a Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Fellow at Imperial College London. He has received the Imperial College President's Medal for Excellence in Teaching and the Outstanding Teacher/Trainer of the Year Award from Health Education North West London. Professor Sam has authored several textbooks as well as numerous original research articles. He is the Chair of the UK Medical Licensing Assessment (MLA) Applied Knowledge Test (AKT) Exam Construction Group and has led several national educational projects at the Medical Schools Council.

George Constantinides is Professor of Digital Computation and Associate Dean of Engineering at Imperial College London. He brings professional expertise in the application of mathematics to computational and engineering problems and a keen eye for data. Prof Constantinides also brings governance experience from both the primary and secondary sector and a strong background in academic leadership.

Del taught Mathematics in various schools and colleges and was Headteacher of The Henrietta Barnett School from 2014–21, having previously been Head of an independent school in Surrey and an ISI team inspector of schools. Having retired from Headship, she remains passionate about the wellbeing and education of young people, continuing to contribute to various schools as well as being a mental health crisis volunteer.

David is headteacher of Imperial College London Mathematics School (ICLMS). David started his teaching career in Leicester and has taught mathematics at GCSE and A Level in London schools since 2012. He has a degree in mathematics and philosophy, and master’s degrees in mathematics, and educational leadership.

Emma is Professor of Statistics in the Mathematics Department. Actively involved in Mathematics education and outreach, including regularly delivering Royal Institution Mathematics Masterclasses and organising the Mathematics Department undergraduate ambassador scheme. Active member of several groups working in Mathematics education at a national level including the Royal Society Advisory Committee on Mathematics Education (ACME); the Royal Society A-Level contract group for Mathematics and the Royal Statistical Society Academic Affairs Advisory Group. Emma will advise the headteacher on curricular and supercurricular development, and also support the interface between ICLMS and relevant staff and postgraduate students from the university.

Phil is Director of Cross-Curricular Mathematics Education, based in the Mathematics Department at Imperial College. Phil is heavily involved in Mathematics education across the College, with a special interest in computational Maths, interactive visualisations and automated assessment. He has a career-long commitment to outreach: he is academic lead for the College's A* Maths and Further Maths Online programmes, leads the Mathematics strand of the Sutton Trust Summer School as well as the College's Homework Club at White City and regularly gives Royal Institution Mathematics Masterclasses. Phil is a recognised expert in the Wolfram programming language, a certified Wolfram trainer and a mentor at the Wolfram postgraduate Summer School.

Vernika is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Lister Hospital, Stevenage. She specialises in management of high-risk obstetrics. Vernika is a BSSP-accredited colposcopist and provides diagnostic & therapeutic management of early-stage cervical cancers. She has passion for providing personalised care for women and is actively involved with Royal College of Obstetrics & Gynaecology (RCOG) to achieve that goal. Vernika regularly teaches medical students & junior doctors providing simulation training and running emergency drills. She is an examiner for undergraduate medical school examination.
